Guard House Preservation & Historic Restoration
This Fort Steven’s project requires an unique and detailed approach in preserving such a fine piece of history.
Vintage Window Restoration has been fortunate enough to be involved with numerous Historic Preservation and Restoration projects. This page is dedicated to our work at the Window Restoration project at the Fort Steven’s Guard House.
The Guard House was a military jail and policing headquarters during WW1 and WW2, primarily housing domestic soldiers and locals for bar fights, intoxication, and horse stealing. Three of these structures remain in the Country with this one being in best of conditions. The picture above is of the front façade.
The next image shows the coverings before we made the repairs.
Now we go to an Interior view of a fully restored window with specialty linseed paint. All old paint was gently removed, hardware cleaned and buffed, and all original parts installed where they originally came from.
Now we show a window restored with the Storm Sash closed. Working with Storm Sash is an independent specialty of Vintage Window Restoration.
Here is the Guard House windows restored with functioning wood storm windows to deter vandalism, improve natural daylighting and enable visitors to see inside for interpretive purposes.
Our business covers every aspect of wood windows from repair, new wood windows, wooden screens, exterior facade woodworking and so much in between. Contact Vintage Window Restoration for all of your Historic Window & Wood Restoration & Preservation needs.
